X-rays are a non-invasive imaging modality that utilises low doses of radiation to evaluate many areas of the body. They are commonly used to assess things like bones and joints; for example identification of arthritis, fractures and congenital diseases such as hip dysplasia.

X-ray.

X-rays are also widely used for diagnosis of abdominal or thoracic pathology such as foreign body obstructions, bladder stones and heart failure, and can be very useful in monitoring disease progression or response to treatment.

We also use a specific dental x-ray unit to image all of your pet’s teeth whilst having a dental examination and treatment, which allows us to identify abnormalities under the gums that may otherwise be missed!

Most of these studies are performed under light sedation or a general anaesthetic, in order to allow our team to obtain high quality images with the least amount of radiation exposure for your pet as possible.
